Tlaxcalans
The Tlaxcalans were an indigenous people of central Mexico who played a significant role during the Spanish conquest in the early 16th century. They initially resisted the Aztecs and later allied with Spanish conquistadors, particularly Hernán Cortés, to fight their common enemies. This alliance helped defeat the Aztec Empire. Despite the conquest, the Tlaxcalans preserved much of their culture and identity, becoming vital allies of the Spanish colonial government. Today, they are recognized for their historical resilience and cultural contributions, including traditional festivals and crafts that reflect their rich heritage.
