Tito's Yugoslavia

Tito's Yugoslavia was a socialist federation of six republics in Southeast Europe that existed from 1945 to 1992. Led by Josip Broz Tito, it was unique for maintaining independence from the Soviet Union and promoting a policy of "brotherhood and unity" among diverse ethnic groups, including Slovenes, Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks, and others. Tito's leadership kept the country relatively stable and prosperous through a mix of socialist economy and federal governance. However, after his death in 1980, rising ethnic tensions and economic challenges eventually led to its breakup into separate nations during the early 1990s.
