Tissue viability
Tissue viability refers to the ability of body tissues to stay healthy, survive, and recover after injury or due to poor blood flow. Good tissue viability depends on proper blood supply, oxygen, and nutrients reaching the cells. When tissues are compromised—due to pressure, injury, or illness—they may struggle to repair or heal, increasing the risk of wounds or infections. Maintaining tissue viability involves ensuring adequate circulation, preventing pressure sores, and providing appropriate care to support tissue health and promote healing.
