Tipitaka

The Tipitaka, also known as the Pali Canon, is the sacred scripture of Theravada Buddhism. It is divided into three "baskets" or sections: the Vinaya Pitaka, which outlines monastic rules; the Sutta Pitaka, containing the teachings and discourses of the Buddha; and the Abhidhamma Pitaka, which explores philosophical and psychological insights. Compiled in the 1st century BCE, the Tipitaka serves as a comprehensive guide to Buddhist doctrine, ethics, and practice, and is considered essential for understanding the teachings of the Buddha and the path to enlightenment.
