Tibialis Anterior Muscle
The tibialis anterior is a muscle located at the front of your lower leg. Its main function is to lift your foot upward, called dorsiflexion, which is important when walking or running to clear the ground. It also helps stabilize your ankle. This muscle is essential for proper movement and balance, especially during activities that involve lifting the foot. When it contracts, it pulls the front part of your foot toward your shin, allowing you to walk smoothly without dragging your toes. It works with other muscles to coordinate foot and ankle movements.
