Thread count

Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into one square inch of fabric, such as sheets or bedding. A higher thread count usually indicates a softer, smoother, and more durable material because more threads are packed into each square inch. However, thread count alone doesn't determine quality—fiber type and weaving technique also matter. For example, a sheet with 300 threads per inch made from high-quality cotton can feel better than one with a higher count but cheaper fibers. In essence, thread count is a useful indicator but not the sole factor in fabric quality.
