Thomas Test
The Thomas Test is a clinical assessment used by healthcare providers to check for tightness in the hip flexor muscles, especially the iliopsoas. During the test, the person lies on their back and pulls one knee toward the chest while the other leg stays extended on the table. If the extended leg lifts off the table or cannot stay flat, it indicates tightness in the hip flexors on that side. This test helps diagnose muscle restrictions that may contribute to hip or lower back pain and guides appropriate treatment strategies.
