Thomas Higginson

Thomas Wentworth Higginson (1823–1911) was an American minister, writer, and abolitionist. He was a key supporter of the anti-slavery movement and helped lead efforts to end slavery in the United States. Higginson also served as a Union army officer during the Civil War and was a close friend of author Emily Dickinson. Known for his advocacy of social justice and literary talents, he played a significant role in American history as a reformer and thinker committed to equality and human rights.
