Third Anglo-Mysore War

The Third Anglo-Mysore War (1789-1792) was a conflict between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore, led by Tipu Sultan. The war erupted because Mysore challenged British expansion and allied with France, Britain’s enemy. The British, along with their allies, fought to weaken Tipu's power. The war ended with the Treaty of Seringapatam, where Mysore ceded significant territories to the British, and Tipu Sultan lost some of his lands and power. The war marked a key step in British dominance over southern India.
