Thermidor
Thermidor refers to the 11th month of the French Republican Calendar, used during the French Revolution, roughly corresponding to late July and early August. Historically, it marks a significant event—on Thermidor 9, 1794, leaders who had overthrown Robespierre executed him, ending the Reign of Terror. Today, "Thermidor" is also used metaphorically to describe a political shift or retreat from radicalism, where a revolutionary movement moderates or loses its revolutionary fervor. It signifies a turning point from radical action to consolidation or conservatism within political contexts.
