Theories of Sensation
Theories of sensation explain how our brain interprets signals from our senses to understand the world. The main ideas include the *threshold theory*, which suggests our senses detect stimuli only when they reach a certain level; the *adaptation theory*, where senses become less responsive to constant stimuli; and the *signal detection theory*, which considers how our attention and expectations influence perception. These theories help us understand why we sometimes notice stimuli and other times don't, highlighting the complex way our sensory systems process and filter information to create our perceptual experience.
