Thein Sein government

Thein Sein served as Myanmar’s president from 2011 to 2016, leading a government that marked a transition from military rule to a more civilian-led administration. His government implemented political and economic reforms, such as easing media restrictions, engaging with opposition groups like Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy, and opening the economy to foreign investment. While these changes reduced some repression and fostered greater international engagement, challenges remained, including ethnic conflicts and limited reforms in certain areas. Overall, Thein Sein's leadership was a cautious but significant step toward Myanmar's gradual political liberalization.
