The Xanadu Project
The Xanadu Project was an ambitious initiative started in the 1970s by computer scientist Doug Engelbart and his team, aimed at developing a new way to organize and access information. It envisioned a “hypertext” system that would allow users to easily link and navigate through documents and data, similar to today’s web. The project focused on enhancing human-computer interaction, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. While not fully realized, its ideas significantly influenced the development of the internet, hypertext systems, and modern computing, laying the groundwork for how we access and connect information today.
