The White Plague

The White Plague, also known as tuberculosis (TB), is a contagious bacterial infection primarily affecting the lungs. It spreads through airborne droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. TB can cause symptoms like a persistent cough, weight loss, night sweats, and fever. If untreated, it can become severe and spread to other parts of the body. With proper medical treatment, usually a course of antibiotics, TB can be cured. However, without treatment, it may be deadly. Historically, it caused widespread deaths before antibiotics and improved public health measures reduced its impact.
