The Wason Selection Task

The Wason Selection Task is a psychological experiment used to study how people test and verify rules. Imagine four cards with different information on each side. You're given a rule, like “If a card has a vowel, then the other side is a consonant.” Your goal is to decide which cards to flip to check if the rule is true. Typically, people tend to check only the cards that seem directly related, but logical reasoning shows that to fully verify the rule, you should also check the cards that could disprove it. This task highlights how humans often struggle with logical deduction.
