The Teleological Argument
The Teleological Argument, often called the Argument from Design, suggests that the complexity and order in the universe imply the existence of a purposeful creator. Just as a watch’s intricate components indicate an intelligent watchmaker, the intricate systems in nature—like the laws of physics or the ecosystem—suggest a higher intelligence behind their design. Philosophical theologians argue that the apparent fine-tuning of the universe for life points to a deliberate designer, rather than being the result of random chance or natural processes alone. Thus, the order we observe suggests that there is purpose and intention in the universe.
