The State Department
The State Department, formally known as the U.S. Department of State, is the federal agency responsible for managing the United States' foreign affairs and international relations. It represents the U.S. government to other countries, helps formulate foreign policy, and oversees diplomatic missions like embassies and consulates. The department is also involved in issues such as global trade, immigration, and international treaties. Its main goals are to promote peace, support American interests abroad, and protect U.S. citizens overseas. The Secretary of State, appointed by the President, heads the department.
