The Simulation Hypothesis
The Simulation Hypothesis suggests that our reality might be a highly advanced computer-generated simulation, similar to a complex video game or virtual world. Proposed by philosopher Nick Bostrom, it argues that, given enough technological progress, future civilizations could create detailed simulations of their ancestors. If this is true, the conscious experiences we have could be part of such a simulation, meaning our universe isn’t “real” in the traditional sense but a sophisticated digital construct. Essentially, it questions whether our perceived reality is fundamental or an emulated environment created by more advanced beings or entities.
