The Shaking Palsy
The Shaking Palsy, commonly known as Parkinson’s disease, is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement. It occurs when nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine—a chemical important for coordinating movement—degenerate. This results in symptoms like resting tremors (shaking), stiffness, slow movement, and problems with balance. The disease usually develops gradually and varies in severity. Though its exact cause is unknown, it involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. While there’s no cure, treatments like medication and therapy can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
