The Scottish Parliament

The Scottish Parliament is the devolved legislature for Scotland, responsible for making decisions on various local matters such as education, health, justice, and transport. Established in 1999, it operates from the Holyrood building in Edinburgh. The Parliament consists of 129 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) who are elected every five years. While it has significant powers, some areas, like foreign affairs and defense, remain under the control of the UK Parliament in Westminster. The Scottish Parliament aims to represent the interests of Scottish citizens and engage them in the democratic process.
