The Royal Family of Mysore
The Royal Family of Mysore was the ruling dynasty of the Kingdom of Mysore in southern India, predominantly from the Wadiyar (Wodeyar) lineage. They ruled from the 14th century until India’s independence in 1947, when Mysore became a part of the Indian Union. The family was known for promoting arts, culture, and modernization of the region, including notable contributions to architecture and education. Though their political power diminished over time, they remain symbols of regional heritage and tradition, with the current head being Pramod Raj Warrier Wadiyar, who maintains cultural and social roles in the community.
