The Pyramid Texts

The Pyramid Texts are an ancient Egyptian collection of funerary spells inscribed inside the pyramids of Old Kingdom pharaohs. Dating back to around 2400 BCE, they were designed to help the deceased king navigate the afterlife, ensuring safe passage and eternal life. These texts include magical spells, prayers, and instructions that secure the pharaoh’s transformation into an divine being, enabling him to overcome obstacles and join the gods in the afterworld. They represent some of the earliest religious writings, reflecting ancient Egyptian beliefs about mortality, rebirth, and divine power.
