The Procrastination Equation
The Procrastination Equation explains why we delay tasks by considering three main factors: how tempting the task is (temptation), how confident we feel about completing it (self-efficacy), and how urgent the deadline is (urgency). When a task is highly tempting, we might avoid it if we doubt our ability to do it well or if there’s no immediate deadline. Improving self-efficacy reduces procrastination, and setting closer deadlines increases urgency, encouraging action. Balancing these factors helps in understanding and overcoming procrastination effectively.
