The pH Scale

The pH scale measures how acidic or alkaline a solution is, ranging from 0 to 14. A pH below 7 indicates acidity, with lower numbers being more acidic, like lemon juice. A pH of 7 is neutral, like pure water. Above 7 means the solution is alkaline or basic, like baking soda. The scale is logarithmic, so each whole number change represents a tenfold difference in acidity or alkalinity. This scale helps us understand things like soil health, water quality, and bodily fluids, ensuring environments and health are properly balanced.
