The New Bentham Project
The New Bentham Project is a scholarly effort to complete and publish the full writings of Jeremy Bentham, an 18th-century philosopher and social reformer. Bentham is known for developing utilitarianism, the idea that actions are right if they promote happiness. This project aims to organize, transcribe, and analyze his extensive manuscripts to make his ideas accessible for modern study. By doing so, it preserves and deepens understanding of his contributions to ethics, law, and social theory. Ultimately, the project seeks to ensure Bentham’s work continues to inform contemporary debates on justice and public policy.
