The Longshot

A "longshot" refers to an event or outcome that is highly unlikely to happen but is possible. This term is often used in gambling, sports, or any situation where there are odds involved. For example, in horse racing, a horse with low chances of winning is considered a longshot, but if it does win, the payout is usually very high because of those long odds. In general, longshots can also apply to any risky venture or idea that might succeed against overwhelming odds, making success all the more impressive if it occurs.
