The James Randi Educational Foundation
The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) was established in 1996 by illusionist and skeptic James Randi to promote critical thinking and scientific skepticism. The foundation aimed to educate the public about pseudoscience, supernatural claims, and the importance of rational inquiry. JREF provided resources, organized events, and offered a $1 million prize to anyone who could demonstrate a supernatural ability under controlled conditions. Although the foundation officially closed in 2015, its legacy continues to influence discussions around critical thinking and the evaluation of extraordinary claims.
