The Italian Colonial Empire

The Italian Colonial Empire was a series of overseas territories controlled by Italy from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. It included regions like Eritrea, Somalia, Libya, and parts of the Dodecanese Islands, and later expanded into Ethiopia and Albania. Italy sought to build an empire similar to other European powers, driven by nationalism and economic interests. The empire faced resistance and conflict, notably during the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935. After World War II, Italy lost most of its colonies, leading to a significant shift in its political and social landscape.
