The Interahamwe
The Interahamwe was a militia group in Rwanda, primarily composed of Hutu extremists, that played a central role in the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. During this brutal event, they targeted the Tutsi minority and moderate Hutus, leading to the deaths of an estimated 800,000 people in just a few months. The group's name means "those who work together" in Kinyarwanda, reflecting their organized violence. Following the genocide, many members fled the country, while others faced justice in Rwanda and international courts for their crimes against humanity.
