The House of Ptolemy

The House of Ptolemy was a Greek dynasty that ruled Egypt from 305 BCE to 30 BCE, following Alexander the Great's conquest. Established by Ptolemy I, one of Alexander’s generals, it combined Greek and Egyptian customs to maintain control. The Ptolemies, often of Greek origin, governed Egypt as a Hellenistic kingdom, blending Greek culture with Egyptian traditions. Their rule is famous for the reign of Cleopatra VII, the last active ruler, whose alliances and conflicts marked the end of the dynasty and the Egyptian pharaonic era, leading to Egypt becoming a Roman province.
