The Great Almagest
The Great Almagest, also known simply as the Almagest, is a significant astronomical work by the ancient Greek scientist Claudius Ptolemy, written in the 2nd century AD. It compiles knowledge of astronomy and presents a geocentric model of the universe, where the Earth is at the center, and planets and stars revolve around it. The book includes mathematical tables for predicting the positions of celestial bodies and discusses their movements. Despite later being replaced by the heliocentric model, the Almagest greatly influenced astronomy for over a thousand years and serves as a foundational text in the history of science.
