The Golden Section
The Golden Section, also known as the Golden Ratio, is a special mathematical ratio roughly equal to 1.618. It occurs when a line is divided into two parts such that the whole length divided by the longer part equals the longer part divided by the shorter part. This creates a harmonious proportion often found in nature, art, and architecture, giving objects and compositions a pleasing and balanced appearance. Many artists and designers use the Golden Ratio intentionally because it’s thought to evoke beauty and aesthetic harmony.
