The Flanker Task
The Flanker Task is a psychological test that measures how well someone can focus and control their attention. In the task, a person sees a row of symbols or letters and must identify the central one quickly and accurately. Sometimes, the surrounding symbols (flankers) are the same as the center, helping, or different, which can cause more difficulty. The test assesses how effectively a person can ignore distractions and concentrate on the main task, providing insights into attention control and cognitive flexibility.
