the Evian Accords

The Evian Accords were a set of agreements signed in 1962 that ended the Algerian War of Independence against France. They recognized Algeria's independence after a long and violent struggle, granting the country sovereignty. The accords also included provisions for protecting the rights of French citizens and settlers living in Algeria, and arranged for the withdrawal of French troops.
