The Divine Proportion
The Divine Proportion, also known as the Golden Ratio, is a special mathematical ratio approximately equal to 1.618. It appears naturally in various forms, such as in shells, flowers, and galaxies, and has been used in art and architecture to achieve aesthetic harmony. When a line is divided into two parts so that the whole length divided by the longer part equals the longer part divided by the shorter part, the ratio is the Golden Ratio. This creates balanced, pleasing proportions that are often perceived as inherently beautiful.
