The Discovery of Grounded Theory
The Discovery of Grounded Theory, published in 1967 by sociologists Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss, introduced a research approach focused on developing theories directly from data. Instead of starting with a hypothesis, researchers collect observations and systematically analyze them to identify patterns and concepts. This iterative process allows theories to emerge naturally from real-world evidence, making the findings deeply rooted in actual experiences. Grounded theory has since become a widely used method in qualitative research, enabling researchers to generate meaningful, data-driven insights into complex social phenomena.
