The Diamond Trading Company
The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) was the distribution arm of De Beers, a major player in the diamond industry. It was established to manage the supply and marketing of diamonds globally. The DTC worked to control the flow of diamonds to maintain stable prices and create a perception of rarity. It sourced rough diamonds from mines, sorted and valued them, then sold them to select dealers and jewelers. This practice helped shape the diamond market and establish diamonds as symbols of luxury and engagement. In 2012, DTC was rebranded as De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited.
