The demographic dividend

The demographic dividend refers to the economic growth opportunity that arises when a country’s population shifts toward a higher proportion of working-age adults (typically ages 15–64). With fewer young dependents and a growing workforce, resources can be more effectively invested in education, health, and infrastructure, boosting productivity and income levels. This window of economic potential is temporary, lasting as long as the demographic transition continues. Effectively harnessed, the demographic dividend can lead to increased prosperity, improved living standards, and sustained development for the country.
