The Cultural Intelligence (CQ) construct
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is the ability to relate to and work effectively across different cultures. It involves understanding cultural differences, adapting your behaviors accordingly, and communicating in ways that respect those differences. CQ is made up of four key components: cognitive (knowledge of cultures), metacognitive (awareness of your own cultural assumptions), motivational (desire to engage with other cultures), and behavioral (ability to adjust your actions in diverse settings). High CQ helps individuals and organizations navigate multicultural environments, enhancing collaboration, innovation, and success in a globalized world.
