The Chevalier de Saint-Georges

The Chevalier de Saint-Georges, born Joseph Bologne in 1745, was a notable French composer, violinist, and conductor of mixed African and French descent. Often referred to as the "Black Mozart," he was celebrated for his exceptional musical talent and played a significant role in the development of classical music in the 18th century. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Saint-Georges was also a skilled fencer and served as a colonel in the French militia during the French Revolution.
