The California legislature
The California Legislature is the lawmaking body of the state of California, composed of two chambers: the Assembly and the Senate. The Assembly has 80 members, while the Senate has 40. Legislators are elected by the public and are responsible for creating, amending, and repealing laws that govern the state. They also approve the state budget and address various issues, such as education, healthcare, and public safety. The Legislature meets annually, debating bills and representing the interests of their constituents, ultimately working to ensure effective governance in California.
