The British Railways Board

The British Railways Board was a public body responsible for overseeing the operation and management of the national railway system in Great Britain from 1962 until its dissolution in the 1990s. It was created to reorganize British Railways and improve efficiency after years of financial difficulties. The Board managed train services, infrastructure, and investment in railways. In the 1980s and 1990s, the railway system underwent privatization, leading to the establishment of various private companies to operate train services while infrastructure management was handed to Railtrack, followed later by Network Rail.
