The Borg scale

The Borg Scale, developed by Gunnar Borg, is a tool used to measure perceived exertion during physical activity. It ranges from 6 to 20, where lower numbers indicate little effort and higher numbers indicate maximum effort. For example, a rating of 12 means “somewhat hard,” while 20 means “maximal effort.” This scale helps individuals gauge their intensity level during exercise, allowing them to adjust their workouts according to their fitness goals or capabilities. It can also aid trainers and researchers in understanding how hard someone feels they are working, which can inform training programs and health assessments.
