The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act
The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, enacted in 2019, extends benefits to veterans who served on naval vessels offshore during the Vietnam War. Previously, only veterans who set foot on Vietnam's land or had specific exposure were eligible for certain health benefits related to Agent Orange exposure, a toxic herbicide. The Act recognizes that service members aboard ships nearby were also exposed to toxic substances through water and air. As a result, it allows these veterans to access healthcare and disability benefits for conditions tied to Agent Orange, ensuring broader support for those affected.
