The Black Wall Street

Black Wall Street refers to the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the early 20th century, known for its thriving African American community and businesses. In the 1920s, it was a prosperous area with hotels, theaters, and retail stores, showcasing economic success and entrepreneurship among Black citizens. Unfortunately, in 1921, a tragic incident sparked the Tulsa Race Massacre, where white mobs destroyed the neighborhood, killing hundreds and displacing thousands. This event highlighted racial tensions and has since become emblematic of the resilience and potential of Black communities, as well as the ongoing struggle against systemic racism.
