The Black Sea Convention
The Black Sea Convention, formally known as the Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution, was established in 1992 to safeguard the marine environment of the Black Sea. It aims to prevent and reduce pollution, promote sustainable use of coastal resources, and enhance cooperation among the six countries bordering the sea: Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine. The Convention focuses on addressing pollution from ships, land-based sources, and biodiversity conservation, fostering a cleaner and healthier marine ecosystem for future generations.
