The Belief Bias
Belief bias is a tendency where people's beliefs influence their logical reasoning, causing them to accept invalid arguments if they align with what they already believe, or reject valid ones if they contradict their beliefs. Essentially, our prior opinions can cloud our judgment, making us judge the strength of an argument based on its content rather than its logical structure. This bias can lead to errors in thinking, as we prioritize familiarity or agreement over objective evaluation of evidence and reasoning.
