The Battle of Blackheath

The Battle of Blackheath (1497) was a confrontation between the forces of Perkin Warbeck, a pretender claiming to be Richard of Shrewsbury, and the English royal army. Warbeck's supporters gathered to challenge King Henry VII’s authority, but the royal troops quickly dispersed the gathered rebels near Blackheath in London. The battle was more of a forced retreat than a full-scale fight, with Warbeck's uprising ultimately failing. It marked a key moment in solidifying Henry VII's control after his victory at the Battle of Bosworth Field, reducing the threat of rival claimants to the throne.
