The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH)
The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) is an organization dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the history, culture, and achievements of African Americans. Founded in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson, the organization promotes awareness of Black history and fosters scholarship through publications, events, and educational programs. ASALH also hosts annual Black History Month celebrations each February, encouraging understanding and appreciation of African American contributions to society. Its work helps ensure that Black history is recognized as an integral part of American history and culture.
