The Artist Placement Group

The Artist Placement Group (APG) is an initiative founded in the UK in the late 1960s aimed at integrating artists into various organizational contexts, such as businesses and public sector institutions. The goal was to explore how artists’ creative practices could influence and enhance non-artistic environments, fostering collaboration and innovation. By placing artists in these settings, APG encouraged new ways of thinking, problem-solving, and engaging with communities, ultimately broadening the role of art in society beyond traditional galleries and exhibitions. The project highlighted the value of artistic perspectives in diverse fields.
